What is Ultra Violet Light?

Ultraviolet light (UV) is a form of light with a short wavelength which is invisible to the human eye. Ultraviolet light’s is located on the Electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and X-rays.

Does UV light destroy bacteria and viruses?

Yes, UV light harms the DNA of bacteria, viruses, mold and spores, disabling their ability to duplicate, neutralizing them and thus rendering them harmless.

Is UV light effective against the Corona virus?

Yes. Recent studies have found that UV light with a wavelength of 254 Nanometers has the capacity to neutralize Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.

How does the Ultra 5 system purify air?

Ultra 5 is installed within the central air conditioning system, where it irradiates and purifies incoming air. Ultra 5 leverages the fact that the AC continually circulates air throughout indoor spaces, and turns it into a mechanism to deliver a stream of purified air that dramatically decreases the contagion risk for airborne diseases, including Covid-19.

Is air purification via UV a new technology?

UV light’s sterilizing qualities have been discovered over a century ago. The technology was first used to sterilize water and has been installed in thousands of water treatment plants around the globe. In recent years, its application for air purification has been developed and implemented in hospitals, universities, labs and other such sensitive locations. Steriline wishes to innovate by creating simple air purification solutions that could be more widely implemented.
